Here in the UK, fire safety in the workplace is governed by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and in Scotland The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, and the associated Fire Safety Scotland Regulations 2006.
There is a requirement in the UK for portable fire extinguishers to be serviced and maintained to the current standard, by a “Competent Person”.
Designed to suit the needs of the modern business, the order was made to replace most fire safety legislation with one simple order. It means that any person who has some level of control in a premise must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.
Here at 1st Choice Fire Protection we can ensure that you are supplied with all the necessary firefighting equipment in your building to be able to combat a fire should you need to do so. All fire extinguisher service and maintenance is carried out in strict accordance with the current British Standard 5306 Part 3 (2009).

Because we want every customer to be safe in the event of fire, we are on hand to not just supply and fit equipment, but also to offer training in the use of the same.
We will show you how to operate portable fire extinguishers correctly as well as advise you on the different types available and their uses. We can also help with the regular maintenance and servicing or your fire extinguishers to ensure that they are always in fully working order.
